With full hearts and true sadness we announce the permanent closure of Community Plate.

Regular hours will continue, Wednesday – Sunday (7:30am – 2:00pm), until we close our doors at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 18th. We hope to see you and your families as we end this extraordinary journey.

Gift Certificates will be honored through December 18th, but no refunds will be issued.

Our story is not so different from others who have closed their doors as a result of the pandemic. Those who weathered the initial storm have been met with a new world as we return to “normal”, and every family is navigating the same obstacles. Gas prices that drive cost of goods to untenable margins. Supply shortages that force compromises in quality. Labor pools that grow shallower as workforce housing inventories dissolve. We aren’t telling you anything you don’t know or aren’t experiencing yourselves.

The thing is, restaurant folks are programmed to endure. We put our heads down, we work insane hours, we handle logistics that would make most heads spin. And we do it because we love our patrons and we are loyal to our compatriots in a way that rivals the bond forged during military boot camp. Too often, though, restaurant people go too long… we push past what anyone would call reasonable without promise of success or reward on the other side. Too many restaurants have stories that end in ruin or tragedy.

In the case of Community Plate, we choose a different end. Our hearts are full of the memories and community you have built around us. We choose to honor the celebration of food, culture, and people that our restaurant has embodied for nearly 12 years. We have made friends, welcomed your families, watched your children grow, celebrated your milestones, consoled your losses, and participated fully in the humanity nurtured within these four walls. We close this chapter with great pride for what this restaurant has meant to us and to you. Full hearts, heads high, and endless gratitude for this ride.
